Who is Jamie?

Hiya! I am the “Le” in Leto! My name is Jamie Leija and I live in San Antonio, TX with my husband (the “to” in Leto) Matt Tomerlin and our creature crew. We have 1 dog (Dixon) and 3 cats (Izlington, Minnow and Fred). We decided to not have children and instead focus our energy on our creatures, families and community!

I work for the San Antonio Book Festival and absolutely love my job! We’re a small team that works all year to put on an annual festival as well as other literary events throughout the year. I’ve been a big reader since I was a child, and books have always been a passion of mine. I still can’t believe I get to work with books and authors and that I’m somehow adjacent to the publishing industry!

When I’m not working or spending time with my family, my favorite hobbies include traveling, reading, getting crafty and now stitching!

I have been a paper person all of my life and part of the scrapbooking community since basically forever (28 years) and was involved in the industry as part of several design teams. I love paper crafting but was feeling overwhelmed by all of the projects I was taking on, so I decided to take a break. And that’s when I dove fully into cross stitching! 

As a kid and then a teen, I dabbled in cross stitch. Then didn’t pick it up again until a few years ago. Since 2021, I’ve worked on a project or two. But I really amped up my love for it last year (2024). I now have a handful of FFOs and lots more completed projects that just need finishing!

Did I mention part of my job at the Book Festival is graphic design? I didn’t. But it is! And it’s also why I’m throwing my hat into the pattern designing ring. I am so excited to share the very first few designs that I’ve ever created. So please stay tuned to see what my brain has cooked up for you!
